Maggie Rosa.jpg

Maggie Rosa is a retired molecular biologist who grew up in the UK and emigrated to the USA as a young woman in the 1960s. She attributes part of her enthusiasm for GEF to the fact that she was fortunate to attend graduate school at the University of Chicago at no cost, and thus, helping to provide educational opportunities for Gloucester’s students is of utmost importance to her. A self-described “engaged doer” Maggie served, in a volunteer capacity, as GEF’s first Executive Director for 5 years (2007-2012) before being asked to be the organization’s President. She stepped away from the organization in 2015 but returned a couple of years later as a Community Council member and to co-chair GEF’s first Capital Campaign. She rejoined the Board in 2020. Maggie also serves as Chair of Gloucester’s City Hall Restoration Commission and as Secretary of the Gloucester Cultural and Civic Center.
