The year-end holidays are upon us, and so it’s the season of giving and showing appreciation for special people your life.

Gloucester Education Foundation’s Honor a Teacher program is a great way to say “Thank You” to those teachers and other people in your child’s school who have had a positive impact on his or her education and school experience over the past year.  When you make a gift through this program, GEF will prepare a special letter of appreciation to your child’s teacher with your personal message.  Your gift will honor your child’s teacher and will help support the innovative and exciting programs that GEF funds in all of Gloucester’s schools.

Gifts in any amount are welcome and much appreciated.  All gift amounts are always confidential and never disclosed to the honoree.  It’s easy, just click on the link below to download a form or to make your donation through our secure website.

Thank you for honoring our teachers and supporting innovation in the Gloucester Public Schools!

Play It Forward!

Play It Forward illustration

Is there an unused trombone taking up space in your closet…a violin gathering dust under your bed…or maybe a trumpet or flute cluttering up your attic? Please consider “playing it forward” by donating your  gently-used musical instruments (functioning or in need of minor repair) to the Gloucester Public Schools Citywide Band.

Donations will be added to the band’s loaner library and give students who want to learn music access to affordable instruments.

According to a study conducted at Northwestern University’s Auditory Neuroscience Laboratory, learning to play musical instruments can do much more than build a love of music in our children— it also helps to develop healthy brain functioning and enhances learning.

So please, consider donating your unused instrument and give a child the chance to discover the many wonders of music.

Donors will receive a tax receipt from the Gloucester Education Foundation.

Call Carlos Menezes at (978) 281-9850, ext. 26339 or the Gloucester Education Foundation at (978) 282-5550 for more information and  to make arrangements for transferring your donation.
