Joe Rosa.jpg

Joe is a retired protein chemist who worked at Biogen, a Cambridge biotech, for 24 years. Before that he was at the University of Chicago for 10 years, being the first of a large, extended Sicilian family to attend college. That experience has kept him involved in education, especially for the less privileged. Joe has been part of GEF since 2006, shortly after its beginnings and is most proud of its science initiatives through all grades. Joe also helped establish the Gloucester Marine Genomics Institute and especially its Biotech Academy where he helps teach. Joe is also the current Chair of the Gloucester Board of Health.

Favorite GEF-funded project: Science initiatives through all the grades.
